This motor is fascinating. It’s essentially a specific arrangement of permanent magnets that creates motion to the shaft of a motor without the need for electricity to continually power the motor. This motion results from the forces of attraction and repulsion of these magnets, due to their specific arrangement.
This episode is a personal interview with the inventor, Howard R. Johnson during his later years. Johnson was granted a patent on this motor design in 1979 (U.S. Patent 4,151,431).
It’s interesting to note around the 1:00:40 mark of the video, the interviewer asks Johnson about passing on the specific details of this invention, so that it can be replicated. He answers, “it depends who you are.” He also mentions an “Israeli representative” who visits him on a regular basis, and his concern of the national security implications.
