I recently posted the following clip from The Why Files series on YouTube. It went viral on Instagram.
They discuss Tom Ogle’s carburetor modification using a sealed vapor tank to run engines entirely on fuel vapor, achieving 100+ MPG before being suppressed.
The clip below covers the Charles Pogue carburetor, developed 30+ years earlier (1936). It was tested multiple times and achieved 200+ MPG by vaporizing gasoline before combustion, but it was also suppressed and never mass-produced.
Fast forward to present day. Not much seems to be happening. Or maybe developers of similar designs simply stayed away from dreams of mass production and kept the technology to mostly themselves. Case in point, George Wiseman of Eagle Research. More on him later.
Even so, as I read through the comments on Instagram and YouTube, it’s evident to me that most people tend to fall in two major categories: DISBELIEVER/ DEBUNKER or GOVERNMENT CONSPIRATOR.
Most fall on the latter. Although the more aggressive comments come from the former. If I have to remove or restrict any comments, it’s always on the debunker-side. I just won’t put up with profanity or name-calling – and they always come from that corner of the woods. Why is that?
I purchased a design for a fuel vaporizer used by George Wiseman since the 1990s. He used to fabricate these, but eventually discovered there were bigger opportunities in other projects and moved on. He decided early-on he wasn’t going to try to patent this, or even approach investors.
His most aggressive go-to-market strategy was to approach an auto parts distributor. Shockingly, the distributor felt it was too easy to duplicate and walked away from the deal. So Wiseman dedicated himself to direct distribution and openly providing the blueprints for sale.
As I wait for other projects to pick-up momentum, I’ve decided to fabricate a version of Wiseman’s vaporizer designed for portable generators. Stay tuned.
